Some insights into the Rajasthan politics
A two-way fight between BJP and INC with ‘Others’ having a sizeable vote share.
As you can see, Rajasthan has seen a shift in power between BJP and INC in every five years. If this trend continues, one can see BJP making a comeback. However, this is Indian politics, elections cannot be won based on trends alone.
One can also see that both the parties have a certain percentage of fixed voters. Congress’ vote percentage ranges from 33% to 39%, while that of BJP’s ranges from 36% to 45% in the last 15 years. Therefore, BJP needs to find a way to attract swing voters, who have voted for ’Others’ in 2008 and 2018.
Currently, according to our survey and media reports, BJP is set to form government in the upcoming assembly elections owing to an anti-incumbency wave against INC, but things can change rapidly.
