Chairpersons of 250 PACS to Attend Republic Day Parade as Special Guests

Around 250 chairpersons of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and their spouses, hailing from 24 states and two Union Territories, have been invited as "Special Guests" by the Government of India to witness the Republic Day Parade 2024 at Kartavya Path.

The Ministry of Cooperation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, is hosting this special delegation, showcasing its commitment to promoting agricultural cooperatives.

As part of their visit to the capital, the Special Guests will engage with Minister of State for Cooperation BL Verma, with a special dinner scheduled for January 25. Following the Republic Day Parade, they will participate in the "Bharat Parva" event on the evening of January 26, as announced by the Ministry of Cooperation.

The Ministry aims to ensure a memorable experience for the guests and highlight the success of the ongoing "Computerization of PACS" project.

Expressing the significance of the event, the Ministry stated, "This event will inspire the participating PACS to work with renewed vigour towards realising the vision of 'Sahakar se Samriddhi'".

The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, and under the leadership of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, the Ministry of Cooperation has undertaken over 54 initiatives in a short timeframe.

Among these initiatives, the "Computerization of PACS" project stands out, with a financial outlay of Rs 2,516 crores. The ambitious project aims to computerise 63,000 PACS, with over 12,000 already computerised across 28 states and UTs.

These PACS are now integrated into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software developed by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), marking a significant stride in the digitisation of agricultural cooperatives.
